Filling out the AIF

Filling out the AIF

All claims submitted to HMRC are required to be accompanied by an Additional Information Form (AIF) - this can be accessed through HMRC's website

To fill out the form, you need information about the projects undertaken during the claim period, and the costs associated with those projects. WhisperClaims provides you with an AIF output that contains all of the required information in the format and order needed for the form.

Remember that the AIF must be submitted before the associated CT600, otherwise HMRC with reject the R&D claim.

Filling out the AIF

To download your AIF output you must be logged in to the WhisperClaims system.

  1. Navigate the claim you wish to submit through either the client or workflow dashboards.

  2. Click on the  icon to download the AIF output.
  3. Navigate to HMRC's AIF portal and login.
  4. Set up a claim for your client.
  5. Open the AIF output and copy and paste the information into the relevant fields.
  6. Submit the form to HMRC.
The only information that the AIF output does not contain is contact details of the client and all advisors involved in the claim. This is not information that WhisperClaims holds, and must be provided by the person filling out the AIF.
